What Is The Best Time To Go To The Seychelles by Lucy Tucker
The short answer is that there may not be a best time to visit the Seychelles.
My first visit was in mid February, which was a no options trip, we saw an unbelievable offer in a newspaper, and it had to be taken in mid February. It was only then that friends told us why it was so cheap, and that was because of the rainy season. We then checked up, and discovered that to be the case, and by then it was too late because we had already paid!!
On our arrival in Praslin, the heavens opened and we were near drowned before we could get to the minibus,so we were soaked, depressed, and absolutely wrecked after our long flight. However by the time we reached our hotel, the sun was shining the road was steaming as were the palm trees, and the sky was blue. We discovered the rain was predictable, for example there seemed to be some kind of a jinx on us, in that when we decided to go for our evening meal, we never got there dry once, it absolutely poured this wonderful warm almost hot rain. So much so we took to going swimming in the rain it was so much fun.
Having visited at other times of the year, there is very little temperature variation, it is always warm, but it would be fair to say it can be overcast in the middle of the wet season.
There are other reasons that may influence your choice of 'What is the best time to visit The Seychelles' and that is the fact that from the end of March until October, 1.5m sooty terns descend on Bird Island to breed, making one heck of a noise and mess over half the island. If you walk along the beach between October and February you may spot a turtle crawling up the beach to lay her eggs. Bird Island is the only place in the world where the hawksbill turtles lay during the day.
